As with every Pesach season there are loads of concerts. This year there are 3 major concerts. Both Miami and Yeshiva Boys Choirs will be having thier only show on the same night. I think like with everything else, competition is good for the soul. The only other feasible night for a show is Motzei Shabbos, and there is a show on that night as well. Yaakov Shwekey, Baruch Levine & Eitan Katz.
I’m shocked (and thrilled) to see Eitan Katz getting such prominent billing on such a “mainstream” show. I’d go to that concert just to hear Eitan, his music is really wonderful and I’m really glad to see his inclusion in this concert. It will be good for the types of people who will go to a Shwekey concert to be forced to hear Eitans music and see for themselves how special it is.
Noticeably missing from this years crop of shows are appearances by Lipa, MBD, Avraham Fried, Ohad & my new favorite singer, Shloime Gertner.
MBD, Lipa & Fried are probably doing Pesach at Hotels and outside N.Y. locations. While Ohad and Gertner are just plain missing. Both of these guys should be doing major shows promoting thier new albums. It’s a shame because I would have made it my business to go see a Gertner show. I guess there is always the Succos season.
